Chili Oil Fried Eggs
There’s not much in this life better than a perfectly fried egg. — Crisp around the edges, yet soft and runny in the middle. It’s a dream combination. Apparently, I’m not the only one who believes it. Fried eggs have been poppin’ off all over TikTok and Instagram lately. — Pesto fried eggs, buffalo fried eggs, and yes, chili oil fried eggs. I had to give a lil spin on my own version of this to see if it lived up to the hype of the newly popular “flavored” fried eggs (hint: it does). It’ll be the easiest, tastiest thing you’ll eat all week.
Chili Oil Fried Eggs
2 eggs
sambal
chili flakes
olive oil (or any neutral oil)
salt and pepper
Mix oil, sambal, and a sprinkle of chili flakes together in a small bowl.
Use a nonstick pan over medium heat. Once it’s hot, add chili oil to pan.
Once the oil is hot (shiny), crack your eggs into the pan. Cover and let cook until whites become opaque.
Remove from pan and serve over toasted bread, rice, or veggies. I was in the mood for mushrooms, peppers, and potatoes.
*alternatively, you can use chili crunch oil rather than making your own. I recommend Trader Joe’s or Fly by Jing.
